Music was my first love. As a young child, I sang to the radio and dreamed of being a performer. My happiest day was when I was old enough to perform in the choir in school, at 9 years old.
When I was 13, I persuaded my mom to let me take guitar lessons. From the first time I picked up a guitar, I knew I found the best way to express myself to the outside world. Inspired by my musical idols such as Michael Nesmith, Leonard Cohen, Passenger, Melissa Etheridge, and the 70s singer-songwriters, I decided that I wanted to be like them. I wanted to write my own music.
Using guitar and ukulele and having the ability to, as a friend of mine put it, write that one line that captures the listener, I create my own world. Folk music, the music of the people, inspires me, and I can only touch the heights that many if my musical idols have reached, but I keep trying.
